Bettina Helmrich-hel beszélgetés 1.

A fesztivál résztvevőinek feltettünk néhány kérdést, amire a válaszokat folyamatosan közöljük!

Bettina Helmrich szóló előadása kapcsán...

L1: What kind of piece will you bring to L1 Contemporary Dance Festival? Does this piece mean any differences or similarities to your earlier works?
Bettina Helmrich: The piece ∑myself has the subtitel „a solo that is a trio“. In this piece I dance with differnt facets of my personality as video projections. The difference to former pieces is that the projection is not used as a stage design but as a set and interactive part while the dance on stage is an instant composition.
L1: What exactly did you work on with this piece and where did you perform it already?
B. H.: I worked on different qualities of my own movement related to the associative thinking of the body. And how can I compose my dancing self life to the structure of a set video. I performed the piece in some cities of Germany (Kassel, Dresden, Berlin). Can you write some details about your artistic life - which direction did you come from and which direction do you go right now? Tell us some important steps from your background! Before I started to dance I have been a landscapearchitect. During that time I was in a theater group which was working with precepts of Grotowski. In 1994 I became a student of the European Dance Development Center in Arnhem/Netherlands where I studied for 4 years. There I became very interested in improvisation and composition. I was inspired by the work of Eva Karczag, Lisa Nelson and Lilo Stahl. In my work I am interested in the physical aspect of the body. I am not so much interested in telling a story. It’s more having different aspects around one question: How much is a movement narrativ without being descriptive or pantomimic?
L1: Does it mean any differences to play your pieces in different countries? If so, could you please tell us in what?
B. H.: Yes. I think there a cultural differences between countries, between east and west europe. There are different mentalities which influence the way of seeing a piece. Therefore I am curious how people see the piece ∑myself in Hungary.
