Ben J. Riepe studied dance and choreography at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. After his graduation he worked as a dancer, for Pina Bausch and for V.A. Wölfl/NEUER TANZ. Besides working continuously with his ensemble, which he founded in 2004, he also works as guest choreograph and teacher. He choreographed a dance production with Malaysian artists for the Goethe-Institut in Kuala Lumpur in 2007.

I am originally trained in dance, but I place myself between visual and performing arts. That’s why I am deeply interested in the intersection of the body between its roles as an instrument, as an object, as a living art object and the human itself. Volatile and consistent, content and expression, political, social, emotional and aesthetic. I am interested in the possibilities, opportunities, problems and requirements.
