Dóra Ida Szűcs (H) – Interview with our guests at L1danceFest 2019

L1danceFest 2019
Movement-based International Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts
18th annual edition organized by L1 Association in Budapest

Interview with Dóra Ida Szűcs
– What does it mean for you to join to a returning exhibition structure? What will you be present with at the festival this year?
– L1danceFest is a truly diverse international event. I think that to anyone who is involved in contemporary performing arts is very useful to visit the programs of it. It is an inspiring and instructive platform, as one can enrich with experiences and encounters that prove that the presence of the independent Hungarian and international performers is important in the Hungarian dance scene.
For me, the festival is a free creative space. I will be participating in an experimental dance film titled Tiszavirágok at the MAMŰ Gallery.
In addition, there will be a compilation from the past works of Connected Bodies Team in the form of a documentation.
– What are you working on now, what interest do you have as an artist for the next period?
I plan to take part in another experimental dance film, where we will deal with the different aspects of camera movement.
Also, I plan to work with a professional juggler in the near future. The topic that I am currently interested in is our personal relationships with objects and our attachment to them. How we shape our environment and how it affects us and shapes us further.
– Do you usually go to other shows at L1danceFest? What is your experience with them?
My experience so far is that there are varied and special performances at the festival. For me, the progressive direction is what is attractive.
